Men Gathering - We the People

When and if a man senses the stirrings in his heart and mind for a deeper understanding of life than that he has theretofore found, he will seek until he finds the truth. This longing of the heart is the very beginning of his life, is a reason every traveler seeking light is said to spiritually, “be first prepared in his heart.”

The holy crown of thorns at the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris.

Crown of Thorns, wreath of thorns that was placed on the head of Jesus Christ at his crucifixion was one Christ Jesus ties and strengths of the Passion, endured by Christ Jesus by his captures to cause him pain and to mock his claim of claim being the true "Son of God".

Men Gathering in Fellowship

This truth is mentioned in the gospels of Matthew ("And when they had plaited a crown of thorns, they put it upon his head, and a reed in his right hand: and they bowed the knee and mocked him, saying Hail, King of the Jews!" 27:29), Mark (15:17) and John (19:2, 5), and is often collaborated by the early Church Fathers, such as Clement of Alexandria, Origen and others.

Our ancient brethren gathered on high hills and low vales, covered by the blue canopy of heaven majestically guiding us; Jacob in his wisdom saw the ladder ascending from earth to heaven; the color of the sky, is that of all celestial attributes for which Masons strive. Which certainly advocates a reverence of steadfast ancient Freemasons for Mary the Mother, and may easily be considered ground for thinking that the early builders also prayed in the name of her special Son.

The Silent Summons from a time ago!

A member of a certain Lodge, who previously attended meetings regularly, had stopped going. After a few months, the Worshipful Master decided to visit him. It was a chilly evening, and the Worshipful Master found his brother at home alone, sitting before a blazing fire.

Guessing the reason for the Worshipful Master’s visit, the brother welcomed him, led him to a comfortable chair near the fireplace and waited. The Worshipful Master made himself comfortable, but said nothing.

In the grave silence, he contemplated the dance of the flames around the burning logs. After several minutes, the Worshipful Master took the fire tongs, carefully picked up a brightly burning ember and placed it to one side of the hearth, all alone. Then he sat back in his chair, still silent.

His host watched all of this in quiet contemplation. As the one, lone ember’s flame flickered and diminished, there was a momentary glow, and its fire was no more. Soon, it was cold and dead.

Not a word had been spoken since the initial greeting. The Worshipful Master glanced at his watch and chose this time to leave. He slowly stood up, picked up the cold, dead ember, and placed it back in the middle of the fire. Immediately, it began to glow once more, with all the light and warmth of the burning coals around it.

As the Worshipful Master reached the door to leave, his host said, with a tear running down his cheek, “Thank you so much for your fiery summons, my brother. I’ll be back in our Lodge next meeting.”
